TECHNOLOGY LAYERING
Sonic Innovations Innova Hearing Aids offers all the features you expect in a premium hearing aid. These features include: digital signal processing, directionality, and multiple listening memories. In addition, Innova provides patented features that you can’t get anywhere else, like S.M.A.R.T. technology, Noise Limiting, D3 Directionality, and the AccuVoice system.
Sonic Innovations believes that the layering of these features results in additional benefit –– benefit that is focused on improving the situations that challenge you the most. Below are the key features that make Innova an exceptional product, and one you'll find you can't possibly communicate without.
S.M.A.R.T. TECHNOLOGY
S.M.A.R.T. Technology incorporates a suite of advanced systems that constantly measure the user's listening environment. When a change is detected, S.M.A.R.T. Technology analyses the new environment and reacts within milliseconds to provide seamless transitions. Now, regardless of the environment, users no longer have to wait for their hearing aid technology to catch up –– S.M.A.R.T. Technology transparently adapts, before important communication information is lost. S.M.A.R.T. Technology is the result of extensive research in audio theory, the cochlear amplifier model, and digital signal processing for hearing aids. The result is a unique, patented design that utilizes 16 channel wide dynamic range compression (WDRC) and employs very-fast acting compression
NOISE LIMITING SYSTEM -
With Adaptive Noise Reduction, SONIC innovations continues its tradition of delivering superior noise reduction algorithms that result in significant signal-to-noise ratio improvements.
As in SONIC's first generation of digital noise reduction, Adaptive Noise Reduction actively seeks out and reduces steady-state background noise based on the signal-to-noise ratio while providing more amplification to modulated speech targets. Building on this clinically proven algorithm, Adaptive Noise Reduction adds the ability to regulate the amount of noise reduction based on the input level of the noise, resulting in a more natural listening experience in any situation.
DIRECTIONAL FOCUS TECHNOLOGY
Innova sets a new standard for directional performance with DIRECTIONALfocus, a breakthrough technology that allows directional performance measures of up to 11 dB ——the highest ever recorded in a commercially available hearing aid.
DIRECTIONALfocus provides additional directionality through a focused, adaptive gain manipulation in each of the 16 channels based on the direction of sound. Sounds in front of the listener are considered to be desirable; sounds originating from the sides and back of the listener are considered to be background noise and are therefore attenuated. The DIRECTIONALfocus system varies the amount of attenuation based on the location of the sound, with more attenuation applied as the sound moves to the side and behind.
Directionality is a proven method for improving speech understanding in the presence of background noise. A directional system’’s ability to improve speech understanding in noise, often represented as an AI-DI (Articulation Index Weighted Directivity Index) number, varies based on the configuration of the directional polar pattern.
Traditionally, directional hearing aids have provided only a single directional program, and often the polar pattern was not adjustable by the hearing care professional. With Innova, the hearing aid can be programmed with up to four directional programs, using any combination of three available polar patterns, to provide the patient with the most benefit for different listening environments.
ACCUVOICE SYSTEM
For some patients, the benefits of hearing aid amplification can be overshadowed by problems related to occlusion,or other issues related to the sound of their own voice. For patients reluctant to wearing hearing aids in the first place, the occlusion effect may give them a convenient excuse to reject the hearing aids altogether. With the accuvoice system, innova provides features that address issues related to the occlusion effect and the patient’s own voice.Innova provides additional low frequency compression to better control the loud sounds that contribute to occlusion. This is accomplished through the 250 hz fitting handle and its corresponding compression channel.
Directional Microphones and programmable telecoils are available as no charge options on ITE, Half Shell and ITC models.
