"Oticon Epoq XW" Hearing Aid
Sometimes when patients wear hearing aids, especially behind the ear models, they have difficulty figuring out where sounds are coming from. Advanced digital technology helps you know the location and direction of sounds. The hearing aids communicate with each other wirelessly and adjust automatically to your sound environment. This helps you to be better able to locate where sounds and voices are coming from.
The Open Fit style is very comfortable, discreet, yet stylish. A thin rund sdown the front of the ear and is connected to a speaker in your ear canal with a soft ear bud. The ear bud is designed with several holes in it to keep your ear canal open so you don't feel plugged up. This also allows sounds in frequencies where you don't need help to enter the your ear without being amplified providing a more natural sound.
A remote control device that is worn around your neck works as a wireless Bluetooth connection for your cellphone, the TV, iPods or any other Bluetooth compatible device. It also works as a remote control so you can change your volume up and down, or programs for different listening situations.
Noise management works with directional microphones to help you hear better in noise. Sudden sharp sounds, such as dishes clattering or doors slamming, are reduced automatically to keep things comfortable, so you can focus on what is being said in noisy places.
Wind noise reduction controls the sound of wind on the microphones, so you can still listen during windy conditions.
Advanced Feedback Cancellation reacts quickly to reduce the annoying whistling that are associated with hearing aids. You can hug someone without worrying about whether your hearing will whistle!
Some patients need more time to adjust to the sound of hearing aids. A special program can turn the hearing aids up over time to where they ultimately need to be. That gives your brain time to get used to hearing again.
An anti-moisture treatment is designed to protect your hearing devices from damage caused by perspiration.
The automatic telephone settings will make your hearing aids switch to a program designed only for telephone use. When your finished, the hearing aids switch back to where they were when you took the call.
For patients with mild to moderate hearing loss in the high frequencies, an extended bandwidth to 10kHz gives additional high frequencies sounds to improve speech understanding and make music sound better.
